SEPIK IRONMAN CHALLENGE Jun 09-13, 2006
The Melanesian Discoverer will undertake a special cruise to Wewak, the Capital of the East Sepik Province departing on Friday (Jun 09)evening at 1800 travel overnight to Wewak where the ship will provide accommodation plus a cruise to nearby islands during the weekend.  The ship departs Wewak on Sunday (Jun 11) and arrives back in Madang at approx 0900.

SEPIK IRONMAN CHALLENGE 2006
The Sepik Ironman Challenge is an annual  triathlon event held in Wewak.  The objective of the Sepik Iron man is to promote endurance sports and to promote Sepik as a friendly place to visit and raise money for worthwhile charities.  During the weekend various activities including cultural performances will take place in Wewak.  The event will be attended by the Prime Minister, Grand Chief, Sir Michael Somare.

ALOTAU CANOE FESTIVAL
The Alotau Canoe Festival is a new event on the calendar held in Alotau, capital of the Milne Bay Province.
The festival attracts scores of traditional canoes from all over the Papuan Region where sailing and paddle races take place, traditional dancing and feasts are held.
When final details are known of this event, we will publish details on the website.

Yam Haus Vertical
MILIMALI (yam)FESTIVAL - TROBRIAND ISLANDS
 
This is an annual event that takes place on the Trobriand Islands when the Yams are harvested and the young maidens chase the men through the gardens.  It is a time for feasting, story telling, dancing in one of the most colourful islands in the world.
When actual details are known, they will be published on the website.  We will also advise of cruises that will coinicide with this event.

Raikos Sing Sing
MADANG FESTIVAL
Although it has not yet been finalised, it is expected that a maritime festival and sing sing will be held in Madang to coincide with the the 31st Anniversary of Independence on Sep 16, 2006.
